Rescue Operations Underway as Maize Mishap Claims Lives in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: In a tragic incident at Rajguru Industries located in Vijayapura’s Industrial Estate, three workers lost their lives when approximately 200 tonnes of maize collapsed on them due to a malfunction in the packing machine. The unfortunate event unfolded as the workers were caught under the massive heap of maize, prompting immediate efforts for their rescue.

Labour Minister Santosh Lad confirmed the casualties, expressing deep condolences for the lives lost. According to sources, eight laborers were initially trapped beneath the pile of maize, and ongoing rescue operations are underway to extricate them from the situation.

District In-Charge Minister MB Patil and Vijayapura Superintendent of Police visited the site to assess the situation.

Collaborating with local authorities, an NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team has been deployed to contribute to the rescue efforts, aiming to swiftly and safely retrieve the trapped workers.
